Assalamu'alaikum brothers, sisters... Muslim & Non-Muslim alike.
I would like to share a few site, that allows you to open & some to download the complete Holy Al-Qur'an, complete with simple explanation on how to learn & acquire the basic reading skills. I would suggest that you go through every site that I have listed below, then you decide the one that will suit your need, InsyaAllah.
Before you proceed, you might want to listen to these beautiful Quran recitals by 2 young Arab boys, listen with your heart...!!
InsyaAllah, one day you will be able to read the way they did too...
Listen to a Young boy reading quran with a beautiful voice:
Listen to UMIT HUSSEIN NEJAD A recitation in Pakistan by an Iranian young boy The boy recites Surah 93 of the Quran:
DOWNLOADS - LEARNING HOW TO READ THE AL-QURAN WEBSITES:
My recommendation is this one, because it has English Transliteration, to help in earning how to pronounce correctly. You can use this application to read and learn Quran offline without the need for an internet connection, after you have downloaded:
http://www.quranflash.com/en/download/index.html (146mb)
Other sites that might serve your needs:
http://www.jannah.com/quran/flash/quranflash.html (listen & read only)
http://www.allahsquran.com/free/ (free Al-Qur'an for non-Muslim & new Muslim in USA)
http://www.freequran.com/html/front.htm (Order free Al-Qur'an or read)
Once you have understood the basics, then you will be blessed with better reading skills (InsyaAllah)if you could find a proper ustaz (islamic teacher) to guide you further on the Tajweed and proper pronunciation. Your local mosque or Islamic Councils is your point of contact.
I hope this small information be of some help to those who are searching for a simple learning aid though the internet.
May Allah bless the persons who has taken their time to come up with the above websites, so that we may benefit, Ameen.

Good Values Through The Power of Story Telling - Make It R.E.A.L
Good day friends.
Once upon a time, a long time ago, there live a family of Onions.
Interval Notes:
In the old days I was told, all plants could talk.... maybe it was true.., because even now, some people talk back to their plant & flowers...!!
The plants & flowers also have hands & feet!
But now, all the hands & feet are gone, and they also lost the ability to talk. Don't know why, but if you wish to know more, then I'd suggest that u look up the internet ...It's there somewhere...i think...!!
Anyway, the father Onion was known as Bawang Besar (Big Onion), the mother Onion was known as Bawang Putih (White Onion), their only son was known as Bawang Kecik & their only daughter was known as Bawang Merah (Red Onion).
They were a very happy family.
Bawang Besar & Bawang Putih always respect each other in their talk.
They hold hands and stayed close to each other in their walk.
There were lots of love in the family of Mr. Bawang Besar.
Bawang Besar the husband, never fail to kiss his wife before leaving for work, and in return, Bawang Putih, the wife never fail to kiss her husband's right hand.
There were also lots of happiness & smiles too in the family....
Always respecting each other in the way they communicate.
Always hugging each other whenever they meet & to show affection.
The children, Bawang Kecik the son & Bawang Merah the daughter, would hug & kiss their parents before going off to school.
As brother and sister, Bawang Kecik & Bawang Merah always willingly help one another, always sharing toys, and never fighting over small matters.
Being family of Onions, shedding tears of joy or tears of happiness come naturally to all of them...obviously!!
The moral of the above story..... through the eyes of my children, are many!!
You see, through simple parables, the above is one of the ways that I knew then, to instill human values in my children. I read parables to Danial and Amin when they were kids. When they grew up, it was then to Nabil & Zalikha.
It was through bedtime stories like this that I too, learned from my father and mother how to to be the person that I am now. Parables simulate interest, in adults as well as children. Parables could be use to provide strong messages. Parables also provide simple guiding principles in our everyday action and decision making. And parables are easily remembered for many many years.
Values can be taught, and could be learn through simple means. One of the means is through the power of parables. I found that values cannot be enforced but they need to be instilled, internalized, inculcated and integrated via the application of R.E.A.L action and examples.
Those were my simple routine, just before calling it a day, lying in bed with my child in each arm, and their heads resting on my chest close to my heart, the story telling begin and the world of fantasy came alive!!
It was almost the same characters everynight, but I never fail to get questions like:
"Did Bawang Merah help her mom in the kitchen?"
"Did Bawang Kecik have many friends?"
"When the their mom is sick, who cook for them?"
"Did they sweep the floor everyday?"
and etc...etc.... and many much more about stimulating questions, sometimes until I FELL ASLEEP...hehehe!!
Then they would wake me up and asked me to continue... or just shake me up until i was sober enough to give them the answer that they want..... such was the power of parables!!
And what are R.E.A.L actions and examples?
It is the application of Respond, Etiquette, Alive, Love in our daily interactions and activities with others, or in the performance of a task.
R is for a sincere RESPOND & show of RESPECT to others with simple greeting and/or with a smile. When we acknowledge the presence of others, it makes them feel at home!
E is for Etiquette, by acknowledging / addressing others with due formality when required or affectionately when due. It also about our attitude...how we carry ourselves...with pleasantries or with a snobbish outlook.
A is for Alive!. Deliver our speech, conversation and tasks with zest & enthusiasm...show it! It makes others feel that they are important and that you care to go that extra mile willingly and with great sincerity.
L is for Love & Compassion (..dengan kasih dan sayang)! When we internalize and intergrate love & compassion in all our activities and the things that we do, we tend to do it from the bottom of our heart.
The spirit of caring for others and delivering it with sincerity is part of communication. It also makes us more human..!!
As human beings we are not perfect. We make mistake, learn from it & stand to be corrected. We must therefore strive to be a better human being, have good relationship with other human beings.
I hope that I am always reminded of those positive Human Values every time I talk and write about them. And today I hope I have manage to share this reminder with all readers, through the 'Power of Story Telling & R.E.A.L'
Last but not least, always remember..
The VALUES that we carry with us…
& how we manifest (demonstrate) them in our life & our work….
Those are LEGACIES that we will leave behind…
…& Will always be remembered
even after we have been long gone ….

This is a picture of my mother (She passed away in July 2007). A source of inspiration & compassion for the family. She left behind a legacy, touching the hearts of many who are not as fortunate as many of us. She had a generous smile and always ever willing to listen. At the age of 80, She learned to speak English at the age of 80. Joined Cosway as an agent when she was 70 or 75 yrs old. I think she must have been the oldest MLM agent that I know...

That's my loving wife & me.

This is my 1st born son, Danial Aizat. He is the 1st protector to all his siblings.

My other children (from left), Nabil Aizat, Zalikha Aliah & Amin Aizat.

Zalikha with Shazmeen Hashim, affectionately known as Meen, our daughter-in-law.

We are one as a family and together, we are pillars of love & strength to each other...

Our Istanbul Holiday & Fehmi Bey Hotel
Recently, We had a family holiday in Istanbul from 19 to 26 December 2009. There were 5 of us (My wife & I, my 2 sons age 22 & 19, plus teenage daughter age 15).
I retired from MAS early this year, and with my last annual privileged tickets still valid till December 2009, we decided on a destination that should be an exotic place with historical sites, as well as allow us the opportunity (not to lavish...hehe) to do lots of window shopping fun at least! So without much fuss, Istanbul was straight away on everybody's mind!
As usual, before any overseas travel, I like to plan & prepare for the trip. Top on the list is the budget; daily allowance on food, tidbits, tippings, transport, pocket money for everyone, souvenirs, tours, & incidentals.
Next strings of TO-DO-THINGS are currency change, clothing to pack, type of instant food & snacks to take, range of medication & vitamins, how many luggage to bring, & of course estimating the extra space required to stuff the 'unexpected' miscellaneous purchases by everyone!! And not forgetting too, a place to stay in Istanbul... getting a good & reasonable HOTEL!!
So today, my post is only on 'FEHMI BEY HOTEL, SULTANAHMET-ISTANBUL", and how I decide to select this place & why I stayed there... Yes, Fehmi Bey Hotel, the cute small hotel that became our 'HOME AWAY FROM HOME'...great hospitality & great location!!
My son Nabil Aizat has already written a lot of things in his Blog about the many interesting activities & the places that we visited during our holiday there. You should also visit his Blog, & you will be amaze at his creativity & the pictures that he has uploaded!! Really, it is MERHABA ISTANBUL!!
Anyway, finding a suitable hotel, with the right budget, right location, and central to where you want to go is very important. Imagine if you could just step out of the hotel & just walk to get your meals, walk to the places of interest, walk to the money exchange office, walk to .... ahhhh...wherever you want to go...!! That was the sort of convenient that I had in mind, when I browsed through the internet.
After reviewing almost 20 hotels in the Trip Advisor posts, I decided to select & stay at Fehmi Bey Hotel because of the positive reviews. The other reason is that we wanted to be around Sultanahment area (Old City) where the tourist sites are.
I communicated with Mrs Tuba, and she was very prompt every time. The booking was smooth & I managed to get a price reduction, that made a great impression on me!
For an apartment with daily breakfast for 5 persons, to me that rates are very reasonable @ 120 Euro per nite, with a 5% discount if cash payment. And the airport pick-up & transfer was also thrown in by the hotel free of charge because we stayed 7 nights.
On 19 December, we arrived at Ataturk Airport at 6am, and a gentleman by the name of Mishal (I hope I spelled the name correctly!) was already waiting for us. Very nice gentleman, only that he could not converse in English, but that was not a problem at all, we exchange pleasantries in sign & body language!
Airport to Hotel took about 25 to 30 minutes. Fehmi Bey is a family run hotel. When we arrived, the owner Mr Mehmet was there to welcome us. He spoke excellent English, so does the front desk staff.
Check in officially was 12noon, but since we arrived early in the morning, we were given early checked-in and were also invited to have free breakfast at the top floor cafe, at no extra charge!
We went up to our room, it was an apartment with 2 bedrooms plus a huge living room. There was a fridge, tea making facilities (assortment of Turkish tea), aircond, heaters in the living room and in both bedrooms, telephone & TV. A security box was also provided. There were ample space in the bedrooms to put the luggage and to move around.
Breakfast starts from 7.30 to 10.30 am, at the 5th floor. I have a bad knee so I was definitely relieved to find that the hotel have service lifts.
The breakfast was good; fruits, cereals, yogurt, fresh milk, boil eggs, scramble eggs, fresh toasts & Turkish buns, fruit juice, coffee, tea, meat slices. chicken slices, etc...etc... to eat as much as you like..!! Mind you, this is not a big star hotel, but all these are considered excellent to me. The view from the cafe overlook the Marmara Sea, and just on the other side, a magnificent view of the Blue Mosque. If you wish to smoke, just step outside the cafe hall, and find yourself in an open space terrace. I was told during summer, most of the guest will enjoy their breakfast here, and also to enjoy a good session of sun bathing.
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Fehmi Bey during our family holiday in Istanbul. The hospitality was fantastic, the rooms were excellent and spacious with huge living room in between, and the breakfast was good!! I could not have ask for more, of course I could have stayed in a 5 star hotel, but that would just be wasting money. To me Fehmi Bey is a STAR Hotel!! It is a "Home" away from home.
I would like to thank Mr Mehmet, the owner and staff for making our stay a memorable one. The area was close-by to all the interesting sites & within walking distance. Just around the corner, you can start visiting The Islamic Museum, Blue Mosque, Arasta Bazaar (just behind the Blue Mosque), then proceed to the Basilica Cistern, Aya Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. Another short walking distant away is the Grand Bazaar & even the Spice Bazaar was a short distant away from the Grand Bazaar.
Food is everywhere! Just 2 doors away from the hotel is a small Doner Kebab shop, very cheap @ 2 TL (Turkish Lira) where Ibrahim the waiter will be ready to serve you. Along the road from the hotel, there are many nice Turkish food that will fill you up. Lunch or dinner is around 30 to 40 TL for 5 of us at one of this small shops. We just walked around & explored!!
I can only remember a few staff's name from Fehmi Bey Hotel and all of them have nice smile & are not pushy trying to promote tours or whateva. They are helpful without being overzealous. I like that.
We went on the Bosphorous Sea ship-cruise and the Sultana's cultural show & dinner, & I had Ufuk, one of the front desk staff to make the bookings. The tour operators picked us up for free, from & to hotel. I would also like to mentioned Hasbe, who went the extra mile to serve us tea at the cafe after we came back from sightseeing late into the nite, very thoughtful!!
Definitely if we have another opportunity, we will stay again at Fehmi Bey, and will recommend to anyone that would like to stay in a "home" away from their home!!.
Istanbul was great, and staying at FEHMI BEY was great too!!
I would like to say thank you to MAS my previous employer for the flight tickets, thank you to Trip Advisor for having a travel website, thank you to Fehmi Bey Hotel & staff, & thank you a million times to my wife, my son Amin & Nabil, and daughter Zalikha, for enjoying the holiday, for having a great time, for the laughter, the fun, the joy that I see on your smiles, & for being together with me.
Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), we had a a great time in Istanbul staying at Fehmi Bey too!!
Here are some pics to where we were:

Kes dan Bab kena naya? Kena zalim? Diinayai ka atau dizalimi ka?
Assalamu'alaikum & good evening pembaca yang budiman!
Sabda Rasulullah s.a.w:
Ni Pak Su Man nak cerita sikit, pasal bab naya ni, sebab Pak Su Man pernah kena naya. Dulu Pak Su Man minta tolong salesman ni jualkan kereta Proton Wira Pak Su Man.
Hampa tau tak, dia putar alam dengan Pak Su Man!! Dia putaq punya putaq... kereta pun dia tak jual... balance loan pun dia tak bayar... dia pakai pi joli sana sini...
Tup tup...dok dalam empat bulan ka, baru Pak Su Man tau dia kaki putaq alam... surat saman MPPJ sampai...!! Surat Polis Trafik sampai...!! Surat bank sampai...!!
Nak pendekkan cerita, Pak Su Man pun buat report... 4 ka atau lima kali...nothing happen... Setiap hari menangis dalam hati huii...huiii!! Sampai setahun dia dok buat kerja main aci lut dengan Pak Su Man... Bila kita phone, dia buat angkat tak angkat... !! Pak Su Man kena continue bayar loan, bayar saman... habis RM7,000.00
Ya ALLAH, aku hanya mohon satu permintaan saja. Aku mohon supaya engkau gerakan hati orang ni supaya dia pulangkan kereta lama ku.
Pak Su Man pun talipon isteri, dia pi check, memang betul la!!
(Bukhari).
Wallah hua'lam

Fountain of Youth , "Healthy Fruits"
EATING FRUIT...
This article came into my email today. It make sense ya!!
No wonder I look like a 30 yr old stud...hahaha....
Lots of fruits...that's the secret...
And I'm sharing it with you!!
It's long but very informative

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE': (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!) Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware.

Lessons from life: "A Clear Guide To Islam" by Amir Brooks
I would like to share an interesting website

"A Clear Guide To Islam" by Amir Brooks.
You see.last nite, I received an email from a nephew-in-law (husband of a niece residing in Australia) inquiring about the the wearing of headscarf, "Hijab" or also known as "Tudung".
My nephew-in-law is a Muslim convert, and I searched the net to see if there are articles or explanation which are simple to understand pertaining to this subject.
The layout of this website is very simple yet comprehensive. For anyone, be it a Muslim or Non-Muslim, Amir's website is very enlightening, informative and will develop a balance understanding about issues concerning Islam.
My search on the topic in question, i.e HIJAB, is in there.
So I clicked on the Topic "Sisters' Appearance", and here is a beautiful reading material, with a poem to go.... I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I do..

The whole point of hijab is to protect a woman's modesty. Therefore, her clothes should not be tight so as to reveal the shape of the body, nor should it be transparent or in any way see-through.
A lot of muslim women, mainly from arab countries, wear a veil completely covering the face and gloves covering the hands and forearms (niqab). Some muslims regard this as obligatory, whereas most (myself included) see this as a matter of choice. I would only recommend this for sisters whose looks attract a lot of male attention and feel more comfortable wearing this.
Opponents of Islam often put across the argument that the requirement for hijab is oppressive and forces women into being second-class citizens. However, the truth is that it is completely the opposite, as this helps to protect women from men's roving eyes (after all, it is a natural tendency for men to look lustfully at attractive women).
This idea is well-conveyed in a poem emailed to my wife by a sister:
"Object of Despair" (by Fahim Firifiray - Abu Omar)
Emma is a lawyer, and Aisha is too
Colleagues going into court at circa half past two
Its 1 o'clock right now, they grab a bite before the trial
They chat about this and that, conversing with a smile
Aisha's in full hijab with a loose all over suit
Emma's in her business wear with accessories to boot
Emma's really quite bemused at Aisha's godly ways
She looks Aisha in the eyes and very firmly says:
"You're a smart girl Aisha, why do you wear that across your hair?
Subjugated by 'man'-kind, an object of despair
Take it off my sister, let your banner be unfurled
Don't blindly follow all around, DECLARE YOUR FREEDOM TO THE WORLD!"
Aisha is amazed, but not the least bit shy
She bravely puts her milk shake down and gives Emma the reply
"My dear sister Emma, why do you dress the way you do?
The skirt you're wearing round your waist, is it really you?"
"Now that we've sat down, I see you tug it across your thighs
Do you feel ashamed, aware of prying eyes?
I see the way you're sitting, both legs joined at the knees
Who forces you to sit like that? Do you feel at ease?"
"I'll tell you who obliges you to dress the way you do
Gucci, Klein and St. Laurent all have designs on you!
In the main, it's men my friend who dictate the whims of fashion
Generating all the garb to incite the basest passion"
"'Sex Sells' - there is no doubt, but who buys with such great haste
The answer is the likes of you because they want to be embraced
They want to be accepted on a level playing field
Sure, with brain and intellect, but with body parts revealed"
"Why do you douse yourself with creams, to make your skin so milky?
Why do rip off all your hair to keep your body silky?
A simple shower's all you need to stay respectable and clean
The time and money that you spend is really quite obscene"
"Why do you wake up at dawn to apply a firm foundation,
Topped with make up and the like in one chaotic combination?
And if you should have to leave the house devoid of this routine
Why do you feel so insecure that you should not be seen?"
"Be free my sister Emma, escape from your deep mire
Don hijab today my friend, and all Islam's attire
Avoid all those sickly stares, or whistles from afar
Walk down the street with dignity, take pride in who you are"
"Strength lies in anonymity, be a shadow in the crowd
Until you speak and interact when your voice will carry loud
You're a smart girl Emma, wear this across your hair
Don't be subjugated by "man"-kind, an object of despair"
"To use your very words my friend, Let your banner be unfurled
Don't blindly follow all around - DECLARE YOUR FREEDOM TO THE WORLD!
It's also no surprise to know that in muslim societies where the majority of women wear hijab, things like adultery, underage or unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and sexually-motivated crimes such as rape are all markedly rarer in countries where women have more 'freedom'.

Perhaps the most distinctive (and for some, controversial) aspect as far as women's appearance is concerned is the requirement for hijab. This is covering up the body in public so that only the face and hands are visible. ...

Melodramatic Paraphrase from the Kedah dialect
The Kedah people has a unique way of expressing how they feel, and even certain actions in the day to day conversation. They use a lot of melodramatic paraphrase words to bring most expression to life!!
This is to done with accompanying melodious, almost musical-like intonations!! Somehow listener is drawn into the conversation & he/she will be able to 'see' & 'feel' the words..... Here are some samples:
Dia sakit NYUT-NYUT ... to emphasize intensity of throbbing pain (e.g headache!!)
Dia sakit NGAP-NGAP ... to emphasize intensity of sharp pain (e.g toothache!!)
Keras KEDEKIANG ... to emphasize mega toughness or hardness of something (e.g meat, chicken meat)
Sejok GEDI ..... to emphasize extremities of condition like really cold water during bath, shower, or even food & beverages)
And here are sample of melodious intonation to further express & re-emphasize the magnitude and extremity of the verb... . the sentence will be said like this:
Kepala DIA SAKIT (Stop a while..then continue, take a deep breadth first, then say the next word ). NYOOOOOOOT, NYOOOOOOOT!! (The 'ooot' sound is stretch and melodramatically expressed with a melting eerie melting voice..!!)
Similarly for,
Gigi dia SAKIT. NGAAAAAP-NGAAAPPP...!!!
To express a HARD or tough food or thing, here's a sample of how to say it:
Kueh cakoi tu KERAS, KEDEKIANG
(when u come to the word 'KERAS', it is said like this; KER..RUST, KER-THE-KIANG (kiang sound as in young...hehehe!!).

Muslim Etiquette of Talking
Everyday we meet & interact with people. People from all walks of life, from street vendors to cleaners, school teachers, our mum, our dad, our brothers, our sisters...ministers maybe... You name it...yes, we meet & talk to a lot of people.
Whether they are cleaners, street vendors, mak ciks, pak ciks, young & old, our children, our friends, our parents, or the newspaper man....it boils down to one thing...everybody deserve to be communicated with the same kind of respect, and in certain warranted situations, with compassion...with some gentleness & beautiful words.
Every word that we talk, and in every manner that we speak, we actually have a choice to do so with the utmost courtesy. It is actually a presentation....like a gift to the people that we address...wrapped nicely with the right intonation, the right facial expression, with the kindest of respect....
We can actually learn the art of being humble in the words that we talk, if we care enough, then take a little bit of our precious time to be reminded that there are such a thing known as the 'Etiquette of Talking'.
I am reminding myself, each time I read this article (I kept this since 1992, 17 yrs ago!!) & please allow me to share this reminder with you, all my friends... about the simple 'Etiquette of Talking' as required of a Muslim in the Islamic perspective.
I learned that Islam presents for mankind a comprehensive guidance in all aspects of life from the cradle to the grave, including the simple action of TALKING & here are the Islamic guidelines in communication or when talking to others:

I learned that Islam presents for mankind a comprehensive guidance in all aspects of life from the cradle to the grave, including the simple action of TALKING & here are the Islamic guidelines in communication or when talking to others:
- You should talk politely in an intelligible & dignified manner.
- You should neither keep the pitch of your voice so low that it is inaudible to the lieterners nor speak so loudly or harshly lest the addressee should be overawed. Because the Holy Qur'an affirms:"and lower your voices because the most ugly & unpleasant voice is the braying of an ass".
- You should not injure the sentiments of the aged persons having careworn hearts & of the innocent children.
- You should not pass sarcastic remarks againts the others, lest it should create bitterness & you noble acts.
- You should not indulge in talking rubbish because it is an evil. Islam strictly forbid & condemn TAUNTING, BACK-BITTING, BLAMING, CURSING & MOCKING of others.
- You should speak only whenever the need arise.
- Your talk must be beneficial for the audience. It should be based on truth & sincerity. Hurling words carelessly does not look proper.
- As you have to render accounts to ALLAH for every word which you speak, you should talk wisely lest you shall be taken to task for your absurd & bareless conversation.
- You should neither indulge in self-praise nor boast of your superiority.
- You must neither ridicule others nor call them by insulting names. It is a bad habit to swear frequently.
- You should not indulge in fruitless discussion with the stubborn ignorant. When you come to the conclusion that a discussion will lead to bitterness, you should offer 'salaam' (peace) politely & depart in a respectable manner, befitting the status & age of your addressee.
- You should talk to your elders with reverence (respect).
- You must speak affectionately to your juniors (Young ones) and listen attentively.
- It is not commendable to interrupt when someone is speaking, again & again. If you wish to reply or ask any question, you should wait till he or she has completed his/her narration.- Your answer or question must be brief & to the point.
- You should try to talk in a simple language & ensure that the other person understand what you are trying to say.
- And lastly but not least, if u are requested to repeat what you have said, then you must do so without any feeling of resentment on your part. It may be necessary to repeat thrice (3 times) what you have uttered!!
Friends, thank you for taking your time to read through this article....may the knowledge acquired today, bring you many gains for tomorrow.. InsyaAllah ('God willing', is the equivalent translation in English).

POETRY: THE MUSIC OF WORDS...THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE
Many of us have gone through sweet memorable affairs of the heart during our yesteryears & teens. For a moment, we have thought that those years have passed us, & all the beautiful words & phrases that were once written...read with deep emotions, would fade away through times immemorial.
Sometimes, those thought were written down in rhymes & they chime...oh yes they do..!! Those words form the basis of poetry in motion.....
Poetry is the music of words... This language of love ensures, beautiful thoughts... feelings... solemn promises... esteem hopes & tender moments remain eternal through endless time.....!!
Sometimes, if we sit down & think about it, it may be true what Plato said; "Poets alter great & wise things which they themselves do not understand!!"
Maybe..... poetry is only understood by those who are.... may I say, "IN LOVE"?
Ok then... Lovers & friends, let me take you down memory lane.... into the enchanting world of poetry.... the essence of emotional expression deep from the heart.... the rendezvous of hearts, minds & souls...!!
Mere words are spoken.... heard once, and they fade away...... superficially & superfluously... and eventually lost in cyberspace... But with a touch of poetry, the heart is caressed gently & tenderly.... increasing the heartbeat with sheer excitement...!! The warmth glow that one could feel as he or she recites in melodious & melodramatic tone...!! Words that could reduce barbarians into gentle, loving gentlemen.... !! Such is the power of poetry in motion!!
Having said all that, I would like to introduce poems that you can match & express according to the situation that you are in...
For LOVERS, thinking of their love ones (this must be recited only when the sky is full of stars...hahaha!!):
I sit & watch the stars go by -
Alone again I sit & wonder why ...
I miss u so.
Someday perhaps, we will meet & talk -
Perhaps, hold hands...sharing kisses while we walk...
.... But till then.... I'll miss u so......
This one is great for LOVERS who would like to make promises.... especially before u depart overseas to further your studies.... or to reaffirm the strength of your feellings for your love ones:
In your heart,
I place my solemn & serene words
that remain eternal -
And in your heart,
I remain faithful (not faithfool ya!!) & loyal...
Like the waves of the sea
beating against the beach ... never ending ...
Because in your heart,
there is this lovely love story,
That we have made & shared together ...
it shall remain forever
until eternity...!!
And for those, who are in love, but with insufficient resources to take your love ones to fast food restaurants or mamak stall.... to woo your prospecting hearts, I recommend that you sing this poem with rich feelings (the pockets may be empty, but the hopes are not!!):
I bring no flowers,
becos they wither & die.
I do not believe in gifts
what money can buy -
I bring you words in poetry,
becos they are tender & everlasting ...
Poems of deep feelings ....
Words that flow .... fulfilling dreams...!!
Last but not least, something to melt his or her heart..... or to make them weak at the knees.... hehehe!! And remember that you have to memorise each and every words!! This is so that u go through a standard ritual, to perfect your practice. You cannot afford to to ill-read this masterpiece, can you .... or could you ... or would you...!!
So, choose a nite at Tugu Negara , maybe with drizzling rain slightly.... then with all your feelings, summon your inner gentler self. For guys, hold an expensive rose in you hand!! For ladies, get an expensive Guy LaRoche watch & dangle it or swing it about as you read this poem... OK??
...With strong conviction, read these:
My sweetheart,
I am here to say my love
with the wind serenading the nite with me
Millions of kisses I would give ...
for loving me... &
your love is always fervent .....
Although days have gone by
without seeing you,
word will not suffice
to say, that i miss u so -
My dearest,
everytime I long for you,
i wud repeat your name.
With rain pouring by
& with the heat that burn...
my love will never die ...!!
Like a monument it will stand.
Deep in my heart
I will not forget
those promises that we have shared -
Oh my siren....
I hope i am right...
i say this in the silence oif the nite...!!
GOOD LUCK, from
